Family ID's 13-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead In Harrisburg

The 13-year-old girl who was shot dead in Harrisburg has been identified by her family GoFundMe staff told Daily Voice on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Naryah Wright of Steelton was named as the victim of the shooting early Sunday morning, the family confirmed to GoFundMe. 

Officers were called to a report of shots fired in the area of South 19th and Derry streets around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday.

They arrived to find "located a large number of individuals in the area, and immediately began searching for victims," but never located anyone, as stated in the release. 

Soon Naryah arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. She "was rushed into surgery but later died as a result of their injuries," the police said. 

An investigation is ongoing.

Naryah was a high school freshman at Steelton High, a cheerleader, and was hoping to join the track team, according to social media. 

A moment of silence in her memory was held at the school's football field at 5 p.m. on Sunday night, her mom wrote in a Facebook post. 

She is survived by her mom and younger siblings, according to social media.
